Frequently Asked Questions

What destinations do you offer tours to?

Our Idaho and forest permits allow us to roam over 300 square miles including the Hells Canyon Rec Area, the Salmon district, the Nez Perce forest district and the West Fork forest district. Our area and trails can also be seen on the Idaho State Outfitters Page.

What is included in your tour packages?

Like most Idaho state outfitters, Outdoor Adventure Northwest can provide transportation from the airport, vehicles, food and lodging at either the White Bird lodge or the Selway wilderness camp. We do offer some gear for dirt bikers.

Can the dogs or kids come?

Absolutely yes. This is a family environment. The dogs cant be left unattended at the camps but they can go in side by sides or in a box for the day. We do charge a daily fee mainly for cleanup at the lodge. Little kids that eat next to nothing are about free. The kids can ride our track and the forest trails but need to have the forest trail permit class completed with parents help for the forests. On other roads in our counties, kids need to be 15 ish, 16

Can I customize the duration of my tour?

Of course. Just order more days. There are loads of roads and trails and destinations with their own reward.

What do I need to bring?

It depends on your adventure type. The four wheeler and dirt bike riders should have helmets, boots, gloves and goggles. We have some but not all sizes and you may have your custom gear. Other than gear, just the clothes and sundries you need for the number of days. Our lodge and camp have soaps and linens and towels as well as all the showers and kitchen tools. Both locations have fully functioning kitchens. You want bring a pillow and sleeping bag for the Selway camp. Beds are provided there.

What is the group size for your tours?

Our permit allows for 10 people per guide, then another guide day must be purchased (included in pricing when you add past 10, 20, etc). However, the White Bird lodge and the Selway wilderness camp sleep about 8-10 comfortably. Others would have to sleep on the floor or elseware.

How do I make a reservation?"

You can self book by hitting a book button, go to the appointment now page, call us, or email us.

What is your cancellation and refund policy?

Because our season is short, we are booked well in advance so refunds are not given for deposits or booked trips. You can apply it forward towards another trip in the future.

When is the riding season?

Our forest permits are from April 1 to September 11th. Many of our trails and access are determined by the elk birthing season and winter snow melt. The Selway camp, the tops of the gospels and parts of the Joseph Plains wilderness, and Hells Canyon typically are available to June 15th at a minimum.

Can we bring our own food or stay elsewhere?

If you want to cook and provide your own food, that is fine and we will discount your package accordingly. Further, both locations offer (guide only), where you could camp locally and just hire us for the day to take you to the place you want to go. Contact us and we will gladly give you a list of camps or motels.
